Question
I do not tell me how to apply Bayes rule of probability to thefollowing problem:The workforce in a town has workers with: (20%) no high school,(50%) high school no college, and (30%) college diplomas. Pastexperience indicates that of the workers (10%) with no high school,(30%) with high school no college, and (90%) with collegeeducation can perform a given task. Find the probability that arandomly chosen worker can perform the task.
The answer is 0.44, but I do not know how to set up theproblem.
Explanation / Answer
The workforce in a town has workers with no high school =20%hence probability of workers with no high school = 0.2 (10%) workers with no high school can perform the work. hence probability of workers with no high school can performthe work = 0.1 x 0.2 = 0.02 The workforce in a town has workers with high school nocollege = 50%
hence probability of workers with high school no college =0.5 (30%) workers with high school no college can perform thework. hence probability of workers with no high school can performthe work = 0.5 x 0.3 = 0.15 The workforce in a town has workers with college diplomas =30%
hence probability of workers with no high school = 0.3 (90%) workers with no high school can perform the work. hence probability of workers with no high school can performthe work = 0.3 x 0.9 = 0.27 hence total probability that a randomly chosen worker canperform the task = 0.02 + 0.15 + 0.27 = 0.44
The workforce in a town has workers with high school nocollege = 50%
hence probability of workers with high school no college =0.5 (30%) workers with high school no college can perform thework. hence probability of workers with no high school can performthe work = 0.5 x 0.3 = 0.15 The workforce in a town has workers with college diplomas =30%
hence probability of workers with no high school = 0.3 (90%) workers with no high school can perform the work. hence probability of workers with no high school can performthe work = 0.3 x 0.9 = 0.27 hence total probability that a randomly chosen worker canperform the task = 0.02 + 0.15 + 0.27 = 0.44
The workforce in a town has workers with college diplomas =30%
hence probability of workers with no high school = 0.3 (90%) workers with no high school can perform the work. hence probability of workers with no high school can performthe work = 0.3 x 0.9 = 0.27 hence total probability that a randomly chosen worker canperform the task = 0.02 + 0.15 + 0.27 = 0.44
hence total probability that a randomly chosen worker canperform the task = 0.02 + 0.15 + 0.27 = 0.44
