9. While calculating average rate of ENSO event from the given graph, we should consider only the number of major peaks and divide by it the total number of years. In one ENSO there is one El-Nino and one La-Nina event. Total number of ENSO events from 1950-2010(60years) is 16. So, average rate of ENSO is 60/16=3.75 years.

10. The maximum range of time between El-Nino events is between 1950-60, 1980-90 and 1995-2005, where at maximum only two El-Nino events occurred in a period of 10 years. So, it occurred at a rate of per 5years. The minimum range of the events is seen from 1965-85 when 8 El-Nino events occurred in only 20 years with a rate of per 2.5 years.

11. The actual range should be given as average rate+/- maximum deviation. Here it can be given as 3.75 +/- 1.25 years, because maximum deviation is 1.25 ( both in case of per 2.5 years and 5.0 years).
