Question

Can't figure out the problem. Just need help solving it. Thanks everyone! Given the following data for a particular product calculate the optimal service level. Sales response rate is 0.1% change in revenue for a 1% change in the service level (fill rate). Trading margin is $7 per item; inventory carrying cost is 30% per year, annual sales through the warehouse is 120,000 items. Cost of each item is $30, demand standard deviation is 690 items for a week, and the lead time is 4 weeks. Following is the actual sales data of an electronic item during the last 12 quarters. Based on the 4-quartered weighted moving average (0.4, 0.3, 0.2, 0.1) and exponential smoothing (a=0.3, Fa=800), Obtain the tales forecasts from Q1, 2009 to Q2, 2010 using the 4-quarter weighted moving average (w1=0.4, w2=0.3, w3=0.2, w4=0.1) and exponential smoothing (a=0.3, Fa=800). Calculate their Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD). Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) for the two forecasting techniques. Also suggest the forecasting technique which should be chosen for the future forecasts? Forecast the sales in Q3, 2010 using the chosen method in part (b)?
