Question

An Alaskan doctor visits each of 5 isolated by plane once a month. He can either use of 2 planes possible, but once he starts out he visits all 5 settlements in some order before returning home. How many possibilities are there? --- The solution that Chegg has an answer of 20, but I feel conflicted as to whether that is the answer or not. I mean there are 2 planes possible. Therefore, I would to know the solution and the methodology behind it [I want to use P(5,2) with the permutation formula but need clarification]. Thank you in advance! P.S Which is the appropriate category to post discrete math questions?

Explanation / Answer

I hope 5p2 doesnt works here..selection of a plane is a combination i.e 2c1 and visiting is a permutation i.e 5! ways total possibilities=2c1*5!=240 ways
