Question
The following outlines two scenarios dealing with patients having a question about their kidneys. Based on the type of urine being produced, explain what caused each situation:
Case 1:
Bill is on the football team. After a long pre season summer practice he uses the bathroom and finds there is little urine in the bladder and it is dark yellow. Why is this different form normal? What should Bill to do correct this?
Case 2:
A few days later Bill is at practice and he takes a nasty hit on the lower right side of his back. That evening he notices something else unusual. Now his urine has a light pink color to it. What is the problem now?
Explanation / Answer
1) Bill is on the football team. After a long pre season summer practice he uses the bathroom and finds there is little urine in the bladder and it is dark yellow. Why is this different form normal? What should Bill to do correct this?
During summer season, when Bill is playing football, he find that his urine is of dark yellow colour. This is because, more water is used for perspiration, so amount of water for urine formation is less and urine gets more concentrated with impurities and therefore it will turn into dark yellow colour.
It is different from normal urine as normal urine color ranges from pale yellow to deep gold.
To cure this Bill has to drink more water and stay hydrated. It will produce more diluted, pale urine as compared to when he is dehydrated or consume less water.
As in summers, Bill lose more water from body due to heat and playing football in that heat. Sun suck a lot of water and therefore perspiration process occurs.
In the last, I want to conclude that Bill need to drink more than what is required for his body to avoid coloration in urine....
2) A few days later Bill is at practice and he takes a nasty hit on the lower right side of his back. That evening he notices something else unusual. Now his urine has a light pink color to it. What is the problem now?
Now the case is Bill is at practice and he takes a nasty hit on the lower right side of his back. And this abdominal injury due to hit on the back during football practice will bruise kidneys. It leads to spill small amounts of blood in the urine.
So in last, i want to conclude that pink colour in urine is a sign of hematuria or blood present in urine which is caused by bleeding in the urinary tract.....
Hope it is clear to you.....
