introduction to probability and statistics milton
I'm just going to type out the whole question
It has been found that 80% of all accidents found at foundries involve human error and 40% inolve equipment malfunctions. 35% involve both problems. An accident at a foundry is investigated. What is the probability that human error alone was involved?
I think it had something to do with the general addition rule because that's what was talked about in the section this question is from. I may just be overthinking though, but I'm stumped nonetheless
Explanation / Answer
Let
H = human error
E = equipment malfunctions
Hence,
P(H alone) = P(H) - P(H n E) = 0.80 - 0.35 = 0.45 [ANSWER]
