Question

Could someones please answer this question? Thanks in advance!!

Problem #4: Vecima Electronics Inc. claims that a certain circuit board has a median operating life of greater than 20,000 hours. A random sample of 25 such circuit boards showed 17 circuit boards failing after 20,000 hours. Assume the useful life of the circuit board is not normally distributed State the null and alternative hypotheses. At a = 0.05 (Table Z=1.645), can it be concluded that the sample supports their claim of th company? (4 marks) 1. 2.

Explanation / Answer

here as population is not normally distributed we can not apply paramteric test

therefore we will do sign test on above:

1)

2)

here sample size n=25

and circuit boards above 20000 useful life R =17

hence

as test statistic is higher than crtiical value 1.645 ; therefore we reject null hypothesis

and conclude that useful median life is greater than 20000.

null hypothesis: = 20000 Alternate Hypothesis: > 20000
