I need help for these statistics problems. Please attach the problems solving process
1. The advertising director for a television show has 7 different ads to use on the program. If she selects 1 of them for the opening of the show, 1 for the middle of the show, and 1 for the ending of the show, how many ways can this be accomplished?
2. Police plan to enforce speed limits by using radar traps at four different locations within the city limits. The radar traps at each of the locations (location 1, location 2, location 3, and location 4, respectively) will be operated 40%, 30%, 20%, and 30% of the time. A person who is speeding on his/her way to work has probabilities of 0.2, 0.1, 0.5, and 0.2, respectively, of passing through these locations (location 1, location 2, location 3, and location 4, respectively). If a randomly selected person received a speeding ticket on his/her way to work, what is the probability that he/she passed through the radar trap located at location 1? Use tree diagram to shows the probability.
3. An unprincipled used-car dealer sells cars to unsuspecting buyers, even though the dealer knows that the car will have a major breakdown within the next 6 months. The dealer provides a warranty of 45 days on all cars sold. From a long experience, the dealer knows that the probability of major breakdown in the warranty period on all cars sold is 0.15. If the dealer sold two used cars, find the probability that at least one will have a major break down in the warranty period. Round your answer to 4 decimal places.
Explanation / Answer
Answer to question# 1)
There are 7 options available
For first ad he has 7 options
Once the first ad is selected only 6 are left now
So for the second ad, he has 6 options available
Once the 2nd ad is selected, there are 5 ads left now
And finally for the 3rd ad, there are 5 options available
.
Total number of options for 3 ads = 7 *6*5 = 210
