I refer to this as “variation of numbers in a column of a spreadsheet.” The regression calculation does not distinguish the meaning of these numbers. It is a researcher who performs the task of giving meaning to the output of a regression analysis. In this discussion, analyze the role of a researcher in performing regression analysis and how he or she gives meaning to the regression output.

Explanation / Answer

The role of the researcher is to rightly interprit the relation between the variables under study like direct relation or diverse relation. The researcher must establish the relation ship between the variables as a mathemetical model and must tell us the effect of corresponding change in the dependent variable per unit shift in the independent variable. That is he must explain the variability explained by the model
