Q2 (i) We have to calculate the probability of A and AB types of blood given that the person selected from ethnic group Y.

Pr( A and AB l Y) = (0.141 + 0.040)/ (0.135 + 0.141 + 0.018 + 0.040) = 0.542

(ii) Pr ( Type - B blood l Z) = 0.065/ ( 0.215 + 0.2 + 0.065 + 0.020) = 0.13

(iii) Pr (X l Type -O) = 0.002/ (0.002 + 0.135 + 0.215) = 0.00568

(b) Here we have to calculate the probability that the defective product is produced by Machine A.

Pr ( Machine A l Defective) = Pr (Defective of MAchine A) / Pr( Defective)

Pr (Defective) = Pr(Defective) * Pr(specific machine)

= 20 * 0.2 + 30 * 0.1 + 35 * 0.1 + 15 * 0.2 = 13.5

Pr ( Machine A l Defective) = 20 * 0.2/ 13.5 = 0.2963
