Question

i need to know which statistical test to use!!!

you are a researcher interested in dating relationships. You recently went to a conference in which someone presented data saying that heterosexual men are more likely than heterosexual women to view a woman's behavior as flirtatious. You wonder if this pattern is also true when comparing lesbian women's and gay men's perceptions of the flirtatiousness of potential romantic partners. You recruit a sample of lesbian women, gay men, and heterosexual men and women. You have the lesbian women and heterosexual men read descriptions of women's behaviors, and have the gay men and heterosexual women read descriptions of men's behaviors (the behaviors are identical-only the sex of the target is changed). The participants are asked to imagine that the person in the scenario they just read about is a potential romantic partner for them. They are asked to rate on a scale of 1-10 how confident they are that the person in the description IS behaving flirtatiously. Higher scores indicate greater confidence that the person is flirting. You want to know whether a person's perceptions of potential romantic partners behavior, differs as a function of the interaction between gender and sexual orientation. You think that although heterosexual men perceive potential partners as flirtatious, this won't be true for gay men. You believe that the gender difference will disappear when you take sexual orientation into account, and compare lesbians to gay men. The participants' ratings are listed in the table below. Use the electronic data file on Canvas to conduct the appropriate statistical test using & SPSS; then answer the questions that follow.

Explanation / Answer

Since, the data is qualitative you can use Mann–Whitney U test for comparing the behaviour of lesbian women and hetrosexual men.

Similarly, you can compare the behaviour of other pairs of interest using this test.
