Explanation / Answer
n the context of the given question, I had recently gone for a face-to-face survey about the economic impact of holding public events in a state. This survey was conducted in person by me in Australia, and we were trying to interview visitors who came to watch the cricket match in the Adelaide Oval, Australia.
I was quite happy when I got this opportunity to interview people using a predesigned questionnaire and I was asked to record their answers on an iPad. This was on a 5 day test match so there was lot of interviewing and data collection across mixed responses. Once the data came to us after the 5 days of the event, we consolidated, prepared reports and analysed how many people came from other cities in Australia and overseas, how many dollars did they spend on their accomodation/transport/tickets etc...And how many came with their family or came alone, and if they were attending the match all 5 days or just one day. Having gathered all these quantitative data, helped us to understand and predict the amount of spending by the visitors and the revenue whcih got collected by the City council Australia for having conducted this match.
This will have a significant impact on understanding the economic trends of holding public events, the infrastructure costs and expenditure, and how much footfall of visitors and tourism growth is impacted by these events
