In the above question, it is asked to find the distribution we should apply for each of the three cases.
1) The number of tick bites during May 2012.
This is the number of successes during a given time period. Hence we use Poisson distribution.
2) The number of tick bites before being bitten by a lone star tick.
This is the number of attempts(tick bites) before the first success(lone star tick bite).Hence it is a geometric distribution.
3)Out of 5 ticks, if any are infected.
Number of observations are given, Asked t find the rate of success. This is binomial distribution
