I’ve always wondered what happened to Motorola until I read the article by Ted C. Fishman. Motorola was one of America’s greatest companies 20 years ago, before it failed and split in 2010. This company was very successful in the 90’s, bringing in $22 billion in revenues and the wireless business making up 65 percent of the company’s revenue. (Fishman, 2014). Motorola started collapsing in the early 2000’s laying off over 50,000 employees with knowledge and passion. Though Motorola were barely making it, their new phone in 2013 (Moto X) helped them slowly get on the right track. Motorola needed a better management system as well. A successful management system is a successful business.
