Question
The U-Plant’um Nursery must determine if there is a difference in the growth rate of saplings that have been treated with different chemical formulas. Since soil condition is a consideration, saplings treated with each formula are planted in each of three types of soil. The resulting growth rates over a given period are shown here. Does a difference appear to exist in the growth factor of the formulas after controlling for soil? Set alpha = 0.01. (16 pts) FORMULA SOIL TYPE 1 2 3 4 Sandy 10 8 5 7 Clay 12 15 17 14 Rocky 17 16 15 15
Explanation / Answer
here we use one-way anova with
null hypothesis H0:all four formula are same and
alternate hypothesis H1: at least one formula is different from others
and following information has been generated and p-value of type is not significant at its p-value=0.9915 is more than alpha=0.05 , so we fail to reject H0 and conclude that difference does not appear to exist in the growth factor.
