The other sample was 25 mm in height. What would you expect the approximate melting point to be for this 25 mm sample, if the heating rate for both samples was 2 degrees per minute? (Hint: use algebra to solve the mp range) 4. 5. For the same solid compound as the question above, if the 1 mm sample was heated at 15 per minute on a Gallenkamp melting point apparatus, what would you expect for an approximate melting point? (Algebra may be used again!)

4. The melting point for a solid compound remains same. For 1mm height sample, the time to reach that temperature is less as compared to 25mm height sample. The melting point is taken at the temperature where all the sample melts and is fixed. So the answer should be 250-251 0C
