Question
Using the images/data below:1) what kind of research is this? How do you know? Are there other kinds of research strategies at work in this study?
2) what variables are being assessed? What is/are the independent variable(s)? What is/are the dependent variable(s)? How do you know? How are they measured?
3) how were the data analyzed? What kind of test was used? What was the outcome?
4) what was the impact of this study? What did it show? Why is that important?

Explanation / Answer
1) It is a Pretest - Post test design research. Under this design subjects are divided randomly into experimental group and the control group. Both the groups go under pretest for the given independent variable and then after receiving the treatment ( by the experimental group) both are post tested to determine their effect on the independent variable as shown in table 2.
Other research strategies here include the evaluation of success of execution of procedural steps of skill learning task and then comparing the vital signs by medical diagnosis.
2) The variables that are being assessed here are: Age, Gender, Marital status, Success status, Professional adaptation status and Anxiety levels.
The independent variables here are: Age, Gender, Marital status, Success status, Professional adaptation status.
The dependent variables here is Anxiety levels.
The study here is to assess the effect of various independent variables on the anxiety levels of the students.
3) The data is analyzed here by calculating mean anxiety scores for both the groups. The deviations have been calculated for both post procedure and pre procedure and then comparing the results and finding the statistical significance.
The test used here is Paired t-test.
The outcome came out to be following:
Under experimental group, t-statistic = -2.948 and p-value = 0.006
Under control group, t-statistic = -1.812 and p-value = 0.078
4) The study shows the impact of various socio-demographic characteristics on the anxiety levels. From the experimental group outcome, since the p-value < 0.05 so it can be concluded that there is significant impact of socio-demographic charactristics on the anxiety levels of students.
The study is important because necessary steps could be taken in this field to reduce the anxiety levels for the different groups under socio-demographic characteristics.
