One of the events that shatter the hopes of thousands of people across the world is bullying. It happens at different levels at home, in society, in educational institutions and at workplace. Bullying may be based on one's physical look, society class, race or ethnicity etc. Bullying is the act of attacking someone physically, verbally or emotionally and in today’s technological world there is also cyber bullying.
In my opinion, the habit and character of bullying start at home and developed in the environment. It's a combination of learning the habit at home and exhibiting the behavior in the society, especially in the school. One needs the other to prosper. The character of bullying is formed at home and the environment such as friends, lack of school control measures give way to practice and build the character.
Let’s assume a child growing in a family where the father is a drunkard. He comes home daily drunk and beats his mother. The child picks-up the violent behavior and builds a feel of retaliation which it couldn’t execute it against its father. So, when it goes to school, it looks for avenues to release the vent. If it finds some company, it might keep bullying others because bullying people are always together as a gang. An individual hardly involves in bullying.
When the child’s parents themselves don’t respect law, the chances or more that the child will also won’t respect the law and end up in bullying others. When a child involves in bullying and if the parents don’t mind controlling the child, it may take it for granted and engage in bullying with new rigor. If the parents hold stereotypical views on people of other race, skin color etc. the child may replicate the same in the school by involving in bullying.
The most important reason for a child to turn into a bullying monster is because he should have been treated very badly by one or both of the parents, the child may turn into a bully. If the child doesn’t get any emotional support at home, his character will become disturbed and he won’t be able to cope-up and move freely with other people. He will be always looking for attention and in order to gain attention, he may end-up disturbing other people.
In any form, bullying is inhuman act. People in the family should be very supportive to the children in order for them to cope-up well in the society and school.
