Explanation / Answer

Although it is much preferable to care for an Alzheimer’s patient at the comfort of their own homes, one must recognise that caring for such patients is a demanding responsibility as individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease eventually require full time assistance and attention. Taking care of the patients during the earlier stages of the disease is somewhat manageable and it can be carried out along with performing other personal obligations as well. However, during the later stages, caregivers may find it almost impossible to care for their loved ones while also carrying out their personal activities such as a job or even a hobby. Unless a caregiver is able to devote that amount of personal time into taking care of a patient, I feel that institutionalising the patient would lead to better outcomes for both parties.
