Explanation / Answer
Capturing Osama Bin Laden
1) What exactly was it about this case study that made providing opportunity analysis, or actionable intelligence, so difficult?
It was difficult since he had cut off all of the connections with the world outside and had only been communicating with the outside world using single courier that would be traveling around Pakistan and then come to the compound where he was hiding. Also, he did not keep any cellphone, which elminated the possibility of locating the cell phone. Also, there was no major search that was done in Pakistan. To locate him was to locate a needle in haystack and ultimately became very very difficult. He was Ina completely lawless area and the US troops had not been able to gain full control of the area for a very long time. Also, when the US had obtained information in the beginning, information had been compromised as a result of been circled back to the Al Qaeda. Moreover, there were several agents in Pakistan who helped him in getting rid of any possible trails. His wife had been smuggled to him from various channels through various tunnels in Pakistan. And the security set up made up by him was so difficult that it couldn’t be easily broken down.
