Question
In this discussion post, you will propose a task or topic for your Technical Instructions and discuss why you want to focus on that specific task. Please answer the following questions:
Brainstorm two potential tasks that you could focus on for your Technical Instructions. (This will allow your classmates and I some options when we give you feedback.) For each task, answer the following questions
1.Why are you interested in drafting instructions for this task? How does it fulfill the requirements of this assignment?
2.How much knowledge or expertise do you have in this field? Provide a brief description of your background knowledge.
Now, focus on your preferred topic (from above) and answer the following questions:
* Who do you imagine to be your audience for these Technical Instructions? How will this awareness of your audience guide your writing process?
* What kinds of graphics or warnings might be required for this audience?
Task 1: How to wax a snowboard 1. I'm interested in creating these instructions because most people don't know how to properly maintain their ski's or snowboard. I really believe this is a task I can make clear instructions for that will allow someone to follow along and learn a new skill 2. I actually took a college course called Ski and Snowboard maintenance. It was taught by an industry professional and covered everything from waxing, to core shots, to edge grinds. I have been waxing my friends' equipment and mine ever since. Task 2: How to make a peanut butter and jelly omelet 1. I've always been shocked by how many people have never had a peanut butter and jelly omelet. It's a fast delicious, and relatively healthy breakfast food that millions are missing out on. I think this fulfills the requirements because I'll be creating instructions for a skill most people don't have. 2. My mom made me my first pb&j; omelet when I was 6 and we were camping. I fell in love that day and have been making them ever since. I've introduced around 20 people to the joys of the pb&j; omelet My preferred topic is how to wax a snowboard. Based on my life experience people are more inclined to try waxing their own snow equipment over eating a peanut butter and jelly omelet. My audience would be anyone who owns ski's or a snowboard and pays someone else to wax their equipment and are probably not sure why they have to do that. By knowing this I will make sure to include why we are doing each step to help make the process as a whole make more sense. Some of the warnings would be to wax outside on a porch or in a garage with the door open. You also need to be careful not to burn yourself, and be careful of the sharp, metal edges on your ski's or snowboardExplanation / Answer
Task 1. Conducting a live demonstartion or role play to demonstrate effective interviewing and communication skills for a doctor with his patient.
I am interested in conducting this demonstration because Everyday I see many patients show dissatisfaction towards their doctor, they behave badly sometimes even get aggressive towards their treating doctors. So I feel instead of telling patients not to do so ,it is eariea and better for us doctors to change our selves and our perception in their minds. If we develop good interview and communication skills the patient will be satisfied and also effectively treated.
I have learnt psychiatry for three years and have learnt skills of interviewing people and patients. Have been applying these skill daily for many years now, interact and interview with so many patients and treat them ,they follow up and give feedback from which have tried my best to be the best interviewer and good doctor.
Task 2. To teach how to deal with aggressive person and a big aggressive crowd.
I want to teach this to all my doctor colluges again , specially those who are working in emergency department and deal with serious cases. Common people have become very impatient these days and always held their doctor responsible for any bad or untoward happening with the patient in hospital. Immediately they either get aggressive and hit the doctor or destruction in hospital becomes inevitable.
I have learned skills of how to verbally as well as medically de-escalating a aggressive person and also dealing with many people at a time.
My audience for this technical insturctions and demonstration will be all the doctors junior and seniors working in a multispeciality hospital.
Based on what I have learned ,I want all my colleagues to learn and in a way make themselves safe from the violence that is being done on the doctors these days.
Some of the warning in this demonstration will be some dos and don'ts of things to be kept in mind while interacting with patient and their caretakers. Be soft spoken always, be clear and direct with your instuinstruc, explain each and every step of treatment that is being done on the patient, explain the severity of patients condition well in advance. Not to counteract or argue, don't get provoked by patients or any of their relatives. Don't entertain more than one caretaker at a time. Will teach and demonstrate verbal de-escalation. Will try my best to demonstrate all minor skills.
