Explanation / Answer

Although there are many positive aspects to social media include change in the market and industry/advertising space, the negative impact s it has on individuals, especially children cannot be trivialised. The level of contentment or satisfaction from their own life may decrease and they become more prone to disorders like depression or anxiety. (Rideout, 2010). It has also been established that tends who are more likely to use excess social media are prone to being narcissistic, aggressive and antisocial (Rosen, 2011) Cyberbullying has also been the cause of many suicides in young people (Kowalski, 2009). Many movements and missions have now been founded as a fight against these ill effects on young people. Some of these are personal initiatives post facing tragedies in their lives. For instance, the Tyler Cleminti foundation is working hard to make a change and increase the level of compassion and empathy people show online. The negative comments and harsh remarks of unknown people online can create misery in the lives of people receiving that energy. The young adolscents and children are also made an easy target of the online shopping industries and agencies. Without knowing the policies and agreeing to terms and conditions of contract, they engage in transactions which they may not be cognitively capacle of comprehending. This increases the misery of parents and changes the demographics within the society in very many ways.
