-Case two: MiningCo has a problem—each isolated site operates as a single entity and there is very little cross-over or staff rotation between them. The economic crisis in Greece and the increasing impact of the presence of ISIS in the Middle East on foreign nationals is resulting in many of the senior executives onsite wishing to leave. You will need to make recommendations to the board for how to curb any hysteria that ensues.
Explanation / Answer
Recommendations for handling the crisis at Mining Co. due to Greece economic crisis and The presence of ISIS in the Middle East.
I have analyzed the situation at the sites and there is growing hysteria due to the Economic crisis in Greece and presence of ISIS in the Middle East. My recommendations are as follows:
1.Communication & Build Awareness: We need to address the employees through e-mails and personal meeting informing the current scenario and how the company will ensure their safe movement back home in case the crisis intensifies.
2.Employee Management: We will ensure work is managed despite the crisis by dividing the team into four groups as follows:
3.Local Recruitment: Recruitment process for local sourcing will start immediately and we will start placing them under Team A and B for training and induction process.
4.High skilled Jobs: Recruitment for special skilled jobs& Technical posts can be encouraged from other sites and some motivated employees would be ready to replace the team A if they are given clear career plan mapping and suitable incentives.
5.Employee engagement & Motivation: To curb this hysteria we need to have regular on-site meeting and gatherings to discuss the changing scenarios on a weekly basis where all managers will be updated on the current position in face of the crisis and the management support and plans in case situation elevates will be discussed. The employees will be encouraged to continue with special incentives which can tradeoff for any financial loss.
6.Address by senior Management: I also recommend a weekly address or communication from stakeholders updating employees on the crisis situation and how management will support them.
Further, I request your approvals on the above-mentioned incentive scheme to ensure that employees are motivated to continue.
