Compounds can only be separated into their constituent atoms by chemically breaking bonds. Mixtures are homogeneous while compounds are heterogeneous. No chemical bonding occurs between the components of a mixture. The properties of atoms and molecules are not changed when they become part of a mixture. Some mixtures are homogenous, while others are heterogeneous. All compounds are homogeneous.

Answer- b) Mixtures are Homogeneous and Compounds are heterogeneous.

This can be considered as not the difference between mixtures and compounds.

This is because all the compounds are actually homogeneous and must be seperated by chemical means. But some mixtures are homogeneous while some other are heterogeneous.

Example of Compound- Water.. Hydrogen and water can only be separated by chemically breaking the bond between them

Example of a Mixture- Water and Salt - In sea water, water and salt can be easily seperated by evoporation where there's no chemical bond breaking is involved. Therefore, this is a mixture.
