What is osteoid and what function does osteoid provide compared to the mineral component of bone? How would a disease of collagen affect bones ability to handle stress such as twisting etc? If you are having more bone resorption than deposition are you older or younger? What bone cell is doing the most work on the bones if you have more resorption than deposition? How does this cell resorb bone? As a child, a fracture through what region of the bone would affect how the bone grows in length? What kind of bone growth is occurring there? What are the zones in that region and what is occurring in each region?

osteoid is the unmineralized form of bone matrix (organic) prior to bone maturation. after maturation i'e. when beomes mineralized another bone cells develope into new bone tissue.osteoid makes of type I collagen fibres, when there is less nutrient then osteoid does not mineralize properly and accumulates causing Rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults.
