This gives us an estimate of individual's aerobic capcity and endurance.
Absolute VO 2 (Lit/min)max gives us a value of total O2 consumption whereas relative VO2 max (ml/kg/min)gives us a value per kg of body weight.
Methods of measurement:
VO2 max is measured using following parameters and equipments
Incremental exercise on treadmill/bicycle ergometer
O2/CO2 estimation of inspired and expired air
ventilation
cardiac output

so For Untrained BOB:
His absolute VO2 MAX is 2.8L/min
His relative VO2 will be Absolute VO2MAX(ml/min)/weight(kg)
