# a vermifirm like part present at the junction of small and large intestine called appendix.. inflammation of this appendix called appendicitis..which causes pain in right iliac fossa at mac burny's point.. treatment for acute appendicitis consists of appendicectomy..

Ingestion of food through mouth is first step of digestion..then bolus prepared in mouth transferred to stomach through oesophagus..then in stomach food is digested with help of hydrochloric acid and proteolytic enzymes.. absorption of food takes place in small intestine with the help of microvilli..and absorption of water takes place in large intestine at last undigested food is excreted throuh rectum this process called defaecation...

Infections of gastrointestinal tract includes:-

Oesophagitis- inflammation if oesophagus

Stomatitis:- inflammation of stomach

Peptic ulcer- ulcer in stomach and duodenum due to loss of mucosa...in advanced condition these ulcer may lead to perforation in affected area..for diagnosis of git diseases laproacopic methods are used in which all git organs are viewed under scope..

Gastrointestinal tract is important organ system for digestion of the investive foods..all the digested food is absorbed and nutrients are absorbed in capillary supplying to the intestine then this absorbed food transported through blood to the tissue where it undergo mitochondrial respiration and prodece energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate or ATP...

Abdomen is divided into nine quadrant

Right hypochondrium

Left hypochondrium

Epigastric

Left lumbar

....umlilicus is situated in the midline of anterior abdominal wall which is remaining part of umbilical cord remaining during embryonic stage..these different regions of the abdomen provide useful information about the relative clinical features

For example pain in epigastric region is suggesting that there is either inflammation of stomach ,duodenum, reflux disease ..peptic ulcer diseases etc.

Pain in right hypochondrium suggest that hepatitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis ,portal hypertension etc

Pain in right iliac foss suggestive of appendix inflammation or appendicitis, carcinoma of colon, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease
