Describe a recent situation of significance where you used a non-rational decision-making model to come to a decision addressing a problem or potential opportunity? d. Explain why you chose this approach, and the outcome of your decision. Looking baclk do you believe this decision-making model was the most appropriate for the situation?*'Explanation / Answer
Rational decision making is a process which involves why we choose a particular thing using our thought process. By using our thought process we are convinced that we weigh the right and wrong in making a decision.steps are involved in this process. when using CBT(Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) method we make the client weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.
steps involved would be first identify the situation, think of all possible ways, evaluate the consequences and choose the best option. For example if you were to write an examination in a week, think how well you are prepared for it ,think of all possible ways you can study in a week to get the best result, and choose if you would be able to score the grades if you were to write the exam,Finally the decision making if you are benefitting by appearing for the examination.
During the process you weigh the pros and cons of appearing for the examination a for making a decision.when we talk about non rational decision making decisions are not made using a theoritical approach. cognitive abilities may not be effective in certain people, lack of logial reasoning may be absent. we have time constraint to make decisions. In business strategy this applies. If an entrepenuer has to make a decision of buying a particular product he cannot predict the market value in future or wait for better value but to invest for the betterment that it will improve in the future. He may be bound by time constraint. Emtionally based decisions lead to non rational approach decsion making.
In most cases it is always best to apply the rational decision process as the outcome will be better.
