Elements of a crime:

Actus reus: This can be considered as the external element of the crime. It can be considered as the failure of performing a duty to act which can be considered as a white collar crime. For example if the any individual does not take any action to save an individual in a road accident and this refusal causes his death, then it is actus reus.

Mens rea: The knowledge of a wrongful act can also be considered as a white collar crime. The mens rea highlights the mental state of the individual or about his thinking when he is committing the crime. Here the individual has the knowledge that his intend is criminal.

For example. If an individual is angry on one person and he is searching for him to take revenge on him. As soon as he sees the individual he killed him.

White collar crime is typically:

Nonviolent: It may be non violent and can be considered to be non criminal when viewed externally. When the manager takes revenge on the employee through not providing him promotion then it can be a non violent white collar crime.

Financially motivated: The white collar crime can be financially motivated. For example defaming the competitor or individual for the financial motivation can be a white collar crime.

Perpetrated by someone with authority: Utilizing the authority immorally can be a white collar crime. For example the supervisor of the manufacturing firm sells the construction materials like the cement for his personal use then it can be considered as the crime.

Usually by a business or corporation: Performing unethical activities in the business or corporate activities is a white collar crime.
