1. Taking aspirin
Which- negative reinforcement
Why- even though at first it may seem that it is positive Reinforcement as aspirin is relieving headache, but that increases the frequency of taking aspirin which has negative effects on health when taken in greater amounts.
2. Giving dog treat
Which - positive reinforcement
Why- every time the dog receives a treat for being able to sit, it strengthens his behaviour as he knows that is a positive thing to do and continues with that action.
3. Joey can't watch his favourite TV show
Which - punishment
Why- his behaviour is weakened since he knows that this is something that he has done wrong and he has obtained negative consequences for it. The condition is bound to occur and he wouldn't repeat the behaviour
4. Dunce cap
Which - positive punishment
Why- he is being given a punishment for misbehaving that teaches him not to perform the same actions again or he would have to wear a dunce cap again and he doesn't want to do that.
5. Frigid temperatures
Which - negative reinforcement
Why- sincebthe person is walking faster, he is doing so to avoid the cold temperature, which is a negative stimuli. This cold temperature is being removed. Hence, negative reinforcement.
6. Praise for obtaining a new client
Which - positive reinforcement
Why- this encourages the employee to perform in a similar way, as a quest to gain the praise, he would perform well and get new clients, which is a positive conditioning.
7. Janey not allowed to play Xbox
Which- negative punishment
Why- since this would make Janey understand that she is not supposed to have cookie before dinner, and the behaviour is decreased by this reinforcement.
