I need help with taking everything I have written so far and putting it into a good/strong, 2 sentence thesis statement.

This is what I have so far:

Capital punishment has been and continues to be a controversial topic.

There are people both for and against capital punishment.

While some people see capital punishment as murder and barbaric others believe in capital punishment and an eye-for-an-eye type scenario.

My stance is going to be for capital punsihment.

Then I will eventaully have to add in more narrowed inforation and a take from a biblical persective. Is what I have written above substansive enough for a thesis statment? in what order? and not sure how I want to start. As, whatever I select I have to use for the duartion of the course and with a research writing project.

Is there anyway to narrow this topic? Like capital punsihment only for convicted murderers on death row?

Capital punishment or death penality is a practice of killing a person as a punishment for a crime which is approved by government. Usually capital punishment is given for the offences such as treason, murder, war crimes, espionage and crimes against humanity. As it is a controversial topic it is prohibitted in some countries like europe , but some countries like united states , china and pakisthan have accepted capital punishment.

From earlier times itself capital punishment was a part of criminal justice system. The famous quote in the bible " an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" is a perfect statement for capital punishment.

Advantages of capital punishment

1. It reduces crime rate- if death penality is exicuted, because of the fear of suffering the same pain the offenders will be discouraged to commit the crime.

2. It is a safe and cleen practice- Death by lethal injection is not a rediculous practice and is not non humane like hanging or firing squad which is more painful.

3. The government need not spent for criminals- As it is more expensive to feed and protect the inmates of prison death penality can be exicuted for serious crimes.

4. It reduces the overpopulation in prisons- Because of the possibilty of parole there is more chance for a criminal to repeat the crime. Because of the quality of care and protection they receive in the jail, some criminals prefer life in prisons as it is a good shelter for them. The amount of funds sanctioned for protecting the inmates of prison increased the rate of offences. So capital punishment is the only way to reduce crimes.
