Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease caused by production of antibodies against acetylcholine receptors. This causes muscle weakness throughout the body. Weak pharyngeal and facial muscles causes difficulty in chewing, and swallowing that some times causes aspiration of food. Drooping eyelids is an occular symptom of myasthenia gravis.
