It looked kind of ugly, but it didn't hurt and it was small, so he just ignored it. His wife, Betty, however, was a bit concerned, given how easily he sunburned. After watching the thing," as she referred to it, get larger over a period of a few weeks she pressured him to get it looked at. He made an appointment with a dermatologist who ordered a biopsy, but told him not to worry, the test was just a precaution. That was two weeks ago. Today the doctor had told him that he had a tumor. He had just been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer. All he could think was, "What am I going to do?" Answers to part I.
Answer 1. Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of the cells in any region of the body. If left untreated it proves fatal. In this ailment, because of abnormal mitosis, more than 2 cells are formed from the parent cell.
Biopsy is a diagnostic test for cancer, in which tissues are taken from the suspected part and growth pattern is seen in the culture medium. Cancer cells grow abnormally in the culture medium whereas normal cells do not. Cells are grown for approximate 15 days and then final report is prepared.
Tumour means abnormal growth of cells. They can be cancerous or Non cancerous. Sometimes due to the injury to the tendon, abnormal growth occurs in the cells but it is non cancerous.
Malignant means transferable from place to another. Means when any additional growth is seen in the form of mole and its frequency increases at different positions in the body then it is malignant stage.
