The analysis comes back as follows (triodothyronine): 0.03 ng/dl (normal: 0.2-0.5 ng/dl) T4 (thyroxine): 1.1 /dl (normal: 4-7 Pg/dl) TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone): 86 mUN (normal: 0.3-4.0 mLM) Analyze the results. Why do you think the T3 and T4 are low and the TSH is elevated? Based upon the witness statements and the laboratory analysis, what is your final diagnosis? Explain Col. Lemon's symptoms. Endocrine System UNIT 16 435Explanation / Answer
1. It looks from the evidence of observants that the patient is suffering from a disease called hypothyroidism and the hormone responsible for this disease is thyroxine. The is harmony is mainly secreted by thyroid gland which is responsible for various biochemical activities in human body
2. The harmones T3 and T4 are secreted by thyroid gland it's secretion is balanced by a hormone TSH secreted by pituary gland .as laboratory report show T4 and T3 level is below the normal range and TSH is too high than the normal range .the reason for imbalance in harmonies is due to feed back mechanism when T4 and T3 level decreases in blood it sends signals to thyroid gland which drops more TSH hormone in blood and vice versa.that is why as the level of T4 and T3 level is low the level of TSH is high
3. The laboratory records and witness observation clearly suggest that it the hypothyroidism the common symptoms for this disease which col lemons faced are fatigue , weakness , intolerance to cold, muscle ach and cramps , weight gain, poor appetite, constipiation and goitre.
