Answer.
Irving Goffman’s theory of dramaturgical self presents a socially relevant and poignant viewpoint on the increasing multiplicity of identities and symbolic expressions of selfhood which are prevalent in the contemporary time. Social network such as Twitter, Facebook provide platforms for individuals to portray their desired characteristics, disguise unwanted traits and opinions based on their tendency to conform to social expectations about appropriate and desirable behaviour. Thus, other than common people, web portals such as Twitter have allowed celebrities, politicians to present a socially appealing image of themselves which they could use to influence public opinion and positive attitude about them, For instance, the current US President Donal Trumpnin particular has become popular for his frequent comments and opinions on Twitter media which has allowed him to not only communicate his message the masses but also allowed him to influence people’s opinion about him and create a larger support for his political actions. For instance, in the recent debate on the control of illegal immigrant children in the United States, President Trump is found to to address his Tweets towards the Congress day before the votes on the DACA and HOPE bills. Thus, by casting an assertive and strong message, he is found to present himself as a determined and unabashedly bold statesman who represents the masses.
