Which elected official did you research? Were you able to find out where he/she stands on various issues such as guns, the environment, taxes, etc.?? Did you try the Political Galaxy feature on the website? While you were doing your research, did you discover anything that surprised you or didn't know before? Do you think that Vote Smart is a useful website? Does the Internet make it easier or more complicated for us to know what our government is doing?
Explanation / Answer
I chose to research on Michael Farrand Bennet who is a Senator. The information regarding the issues like guns, environment, taxes etc was not found on the website but it provided a link to the personal website of the senator where all the information was available. His areas of work are the environment, national security, supporting veterans, immigration, jobs, and healthcare. Yes, I tried the Political Galaxy website and it provides the user to see what step the elected official has taken to solve the issues. The only things which surprised me are the fact that there is a website can provide information about the elected candidates online and accessing the data would be so easy. Vote Smart is a great website with a lot of vital information about all the politicians. This can act as a good repository of data of all the politicians in the United States. The internet had made our lives easier with the information available at the fingertips. Vote Smart is providing information easily and this is happening because of the internet. So the internet is a great way to know more about what the government is doing.
