Excel fails to open document. Other apps can open without issue

I have an expense report template that for more than a year I have used without any issue. Today the document would not open on Excel, however, the document would open on Google Docs without issue. I have looked into the issue online but haven't found an answer that works. I have also reached out to Microsoft support, but they weren't able to help with the issue. I have checked to make sure that Office is up to date.

If you look closely you'll see that all I did was change the font to Calibri then save using the .xlsx file type :-)

That tells me that you probably have a font issue on your Mac. Launch Apple's Font Book & run both the Validate Fonts & the Resolve Duplicate Fonts routines. See Font Book's Help for details.
