In the case of a company that sells cereals with all-natural ingredients, the marketing department must temper enthusiasm for the product versus the laws the govern labeling practices. Some competitors' advertisements tout high-fiber cereals that have the potential to reduce the risk of some types of cancer. The cereal company in question wants to gain more market share, but the marketing department cannot make dubious health claims on cereal boxes, or it risks facing litigation and fines. Even though competitors, who have a larger market share of the cereal industry, use shady labeling practices, that doesn't mean every manufacturer should engage in unethical behavior. In light of this case study answer the following questions: ' 1- Explain why ethics is important in this business environment? 2- Discuss important of social responsibility in this case ? 3- Is this an ethical issue? In this specific case it's a very important as Earth explain important rule in showing the compatibility as well as commitment of the organisation towards the society. As the company is selling cereal with all natural ingredients, false labeling can be very harmful. By showing false property and not false labeling be boxes of the specific product would be appropriate as if the results are different from the projected and advertised labeling it would be drastic for organisation and overall sales of the product would be reduced. On top of it fines would be induced to the company which would reduce its overall ethical position in the society.
Company does have great social responsibility of not spreading the false news as well as using false advertisement for betterment of the product. Company has a great opportunity for setting up an example of good effects and social responsibility by not participating in to another can practice is done by other organizations. That's what definitely help the company to differentiate itself from the competitors as and more ethical and socially responsible company which would be beneficial for their overall sales generation.
Definitely this is an ethical issue as other companies are directly involving in the malpractices, not getting involved in the mall practices would be appropriate for breakfast cereal making company. It would definitely be beneficial for the company to show ethics and responsibility towards the society by not getting involved in such practices and being more dedicated and sustainable as well as ethical to the society.
False advertisement could lead to false results of the specific product. If the product is not as it is advertised then it would introduce different fines and penalties on the company itself as well as it would to harm of the community. Food is the basic necessity which should not be altered by any means. If the consequences are bad then the overall effectiveness and level of unethical behaviour would be directly questionable as it would leave a huge impact on the society especially on the direct consumers of the company.
