Criteria matching than sum

Hi ,

I am struggling to get the following done. This is the base data. I want to match the name with projects and then sum those projects which matches the criteria. for example, name C with GAPP has value of 100 and there is one more name C with GAPP with value of 200 so in the table 2 it should show 300 in hte amount. It would be a great help if I can get solution to this formula. I am using excel 2013

Table -1

Table-2

Thanks for help !!

Name projects amount name C GAPP 100 name B GIN 200 name C LSARP 300 name D GAPP 200 name E GAPP 500 name F GIN 400 name G LSARP 100 name C GAPP 200 name D LSARP 500 name D GIN 200 name D GAPP 200 name C LSARP 300

Explanation / Answer

Hi..

You could create a pivot table based on Table-1, with Name and Projects as row labels, and Amount in the values area.

Alternatively: let's say Table-1 is Sheet1!A1:C13, and Table-2 is on another sheet, starting at A1.,

In C2, enter the formula.

=SUMIFS(Sheet1!$C$2:$C$13,Sheet1!$A$2:$A$13,A2,Sheet1!$B$2:$B$13,B2).

and fill down as far as needed..
