1. A project is an enterprise which is planned to deliver one or more business product according to a specified business case. It can be any domain project and may demand various services.
For example, if a website needs to be created for a school/university to take care of the admission procedures, rankings, placement records etc; the planning to development to delivery phase of the website is called as a project.
2. The size of an information system development project is generally meausred by the effort estimate required to build the project, which means it can be in days or months or years depending on the complexity of the project. It can also be represnted in terms of thehours of work required by the team to accomplish it.
3. The System Development Life Cycle, "SDLC" for short, is a multistep, iterative process which is used to deliver a quality system which meets or exceeds a business"s expectations or manage decision-making progression.
Traditionally, the systems-development life cycle consisted of six stages - planning, requirement gathering, designing, development, testing, maintenance.
The SDLC highlights different stages (phrases or steps) of the development process. The life cycle approach is used so users can see and understand what activities are involved within a given step. It is also used to let them know that at any time, steps can be repeated or a previous step can be reworked when needing to modify or improve the system.
4. Predative approach to the SDLC means that the development project is planned in advance and the new information system can be developed completely based on the initial plan. Hence, whenever the requirements are clear in advance of a project, predative approach can be followed.
5. Adaptive approach takes care of the adhoc changes in requirement and changes in the functionality of a project. so, whenever the project is not completely planned and needs to be started based on partial knowledge, adaptive approach to SDLC can be taken to incorporate the modifications at later stage of time.
