I worked at the Coporate Head Office of the ABC Co. till a year back. My profile included making the charts pertaining to the Job-productivity of the employees and the analysis thereupon. Further, I would also suggest the steps that need to be taken in order to improve the same. My activity also pertained to the Training and Development side of the Corporate where I would design various Employee engagement program with the help of my entire team, in order to keep the morale of the employees high. In one of the occasions, our Managing Director asked for a brief analysis of the Productivity report after he was impressed the way the report was made and presented before him. I had ensured about clarity and used the self-explanatory charts and diagrams, wherever necessary, for easy gasping of the same.
I was expecting my Boss to mention about my inputs in preparation of the Project and call upon me in the meeting since none could help analyzing the charts better along with detailed explanation and suggestions to the problems that my team identified under my able-guidance. To my rude shock, my Boss took all the credits of the task to himself without mentioning in a single occasion about me or my team’s contribution towards the same. I had burnt the mid-night oil to get this done and what I later learn is that based upon this Project, my Boss gets an immediate promotion whereas my Performance appraisal made a little difference to my career path overall in the Company. We did not even have a Flat Organization wherein I could simply walk into the Managing Director’s cabin and express my woes. We certainly would not have been entertained that way.
However, upon asking for an explanation from my Boss, all he said is that my job was to make reports whereas I had nothing to do with what he did with the same. Further, although I got the minimum pay hike of 7.5% at the end of the Financial year to my salary, I certainly expected it to be at least 10% for all the efforts that I had put in my profile. I realized speaking and any further discussion with him shall make no sense because he was heading the Human Resource team itself. I simply put my papers and joined another Organization but this time, with more alertness and research about the Organization before joining the same where employees are not given such an unfairly treatment.
