The ETag is quite significant. It is kind of an unique id provided by a web server to a particular version of a resource found at a URL. If the resource changes at that URL, a different ETag is assigned. In case the server gets the request of a URL and the Etag matches it means it need not send the page again to the client saving the bandwidth as the resource has not been modified and client is having the latest version of the requested resource.
