Communication is one of the major keys to success in workplace. As an Organisation becomes more and more diverse, proper communication becomes existentially even more important. Communication between manager and employees, across departments, management and vendors are the essentials that makes an organisation operate on day to day basis.
The factors that contribute to good and bad communication are:
1.Leadership behaviour: In an organisation, the employees always look up to their superiors. If the management is weak, the entire work comes to a standstill, the growth of the organisation is held back. As a result, the communication weakens between the managers and employees. This further lead to unhealthy working environment, where the employees are comfortable to talk to their superiors for their professional as well as personal matters. Hence a strong leadership builds a good or bad communicative environment at the workplace.
2.Goals and Objectives: It is very important for the employees to know what is expected of them. Their job profile, goals, objective and duties should be crystal clear and must be communicated verbally as well. Most companies give out drafts of the job profile to the employees. But verbal communication is reasonably very essential. If the goals and duties aren’t clear, it leads to inefficiency and confusion.
3.Feedback Mechanism: It is best known that employees work best when recognised and rewarded for their job. An efficient feedback mechanism is an healthy way to provide and receive feedback to and from the employees. Limited feedback often leads to poor communication at workplace.
4.Employee Engagement in workplace: When Employees lose their interest in the company they are working for, they lose sight of their goals. They are not bothered with the company's success or failure and do not put forth the effort to communicate ideas and feedback to their co-workers and managers.Thus, it is very important to keep the employees engaged to the organisation.
