This plague has been detected 48% in the country. The total 2348 cases have been confirmed including 202 deaths and 1791 pneumonic plague cases were identified in which 22% cases have confirmed and there were other reports of 341 cases of bubonic plague. This disease transmitted between animals from their fleas and humans are infected by the bite of infected fleas and direct contact. This pleague cases were detected in Madgascar and samples were suspected in Seychelles.

Preventive measures and control : people were informed about plague which is present in the air and take precautions against flea bites and to stay away from animal remains. Advises people to avoid direct contact and maintain distance with infected patients with pneumonic plague which may transfer in high level. WHO has been provided emergency medical camps to prevent infection and delivered 1.2 million of doses of antibiotics to fight against pleague.

Source of the disease: Plague is an communicable disease caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, a zoonotic bacteria which are found in small mammals and their parasites.

Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) – Saudi Arbia

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is infectious respiratory disease which was firstly identified in people of Saudi Arabia in 2012 and MERS-CoV were reported 82% in Soudi Arabia kingdome and gradually spread to several countries (Bahrain, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Yemen including the United States, north Africa and Europe). MERS has been spread from infected patient to others through close contact.

693 people were effected and died with MERS-CoV till now and three vaccines presently notified and under developed by WHO and out of which one vaccine proposed to prevent transmission from of this virus from dromedary camels to humans.

MERS and MERS-CoV patients affected with severe respiratory problems with symptoms of fever, cough and squatness of breath. This epidemic was connected with a traveler returning from the Arabian Peninsula.

Prevention:

There is no vaccine presently to prevent MERS and MERS-CoV infection. Health care workers always encourage all people to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses by adopting necessary preventive measures:

The human cases were indicated to avian influenza A(H7N9) virus through contact with infected poultry environments and markets and since then transmitted in animals and environments and further human cases explored.

Dengue fever – Sri Lanka .

Sri Lanka Unit of the Ministry of Health was identified 80 732 dengue fever cases and 215 deaths From 1 January to 7 July 2017 and around 43% cases were reported in affected area. The dengue fever cases affected due to huge rains and floods and failure to clean the garbage, stagnant water and contaminated ground storage water of mosquitoes hubs caused to increase the number of cases.

WHO and MoH srilanka worked together and encouraged the strategic plans to control dengue fever. The preventive measures known as Integrated Vector Management (IVM) to reduce the mosquito vectors causes the dengue virus. The other preventing measures as follows:

HIV/ AIDS

HIV is a virus which destroy the human immunity system and kills the white blood cells. HIV is found in blood, vaginal, breast milk and anal fluids. HIV is a sexually transmitted diseases (STD). It doesn’t transmitted through sweat, contact and urine. Pregnant woman affected with HIV virus in blood passes into baby body cells and after birth through breastfeeding.

AIDS is a final stage of HIV infection which is set of syndrome due to HIV infection. AIDS refers to acquired immune deficiency syndromes which resulted of advance HIV infection and destroys the immune system. Initial stage of HIV treatment can be prevention to developing an AIDS in people.Presently HIV has no curable treatment however people can live long with correct treatment on a regular medical support.

HIV symptoms are fever, headach, stomach upset, body rashes, body pains and sore throat.
