Question
Forming, norming, storming and finally performing are the different stages for the formation of ELITE team. In the forming stage the members know in detail about each other and they start to have the clarity of their purpose to be in team. In norming, the members begin to have the better understanding of the expectations of the group and it develops a group identity and norms are clearer and expected. In case of forming, the different types of questions are being asked by the team members related to team direction, leader and the role of the members, objectives of the activities and in the case presented, the methods of improving the sales and customer satisfaction. At last, performing stage, the ELITE team is prepared well as a highly effective and efficient team by avoiding the advertisements mistakes.
Due to a high level of accountability, better-coordinated roles, create continuous improvements and the common objectives are the main elements behind the success of ELITE team. The emotional commitment of all the members, the performance goals, personal accountability of the individual members of the Elite Team can be seen as the main predictive factors for the greater performance. This can also be boosted by having the Monday meeting.
The main reasons behind the non-attainment of high-level performance by Mott’s top management were the setting of unachievable goals which were not practically possible to accomplish. In fact, these goals were too high to accomplish for the team members. The team also lacked the development of credibility of having required information, inability to manage the disagreements and the absence of coaching and encouragement. For being a success, the team required to have accountability, interdependence between the various members and to bring the consistency in all the divisions of the organization.
I would recommend Mott to be a manager and utilize different task facilitating roles so that he can utilize the experience of team members. This cn be achieved with the help of reality testing information seeking, monitoring, directing to different functions and process analysis. He should also look to create a healthy relationship by removing tension in the team members, energizing them and creating a consensus.
