Question
Assignment: Trouble shoot this experience in your own words:
Orientation training is done to recognize new employees within a company. Orientation training to inform us what is expected of us when we are first hired for a company. When you first get hired you want to do your best and be effective. The understanding of the job requirements will result in less errors and the ability for improved performance (Blanchard & Thacker, 2013). I once worked as a certified medication aide where I was certified to dispense medication to patients. The medication aide program required that a person be a certified nursing assist prior to enrolling in the training. The medication aide program took about four to five months to complete. Mediation aides were to assist nursed in providing ethical care to patients while administering prescribed medication. They also performed other nursing tasks that was allowed in their job description. The training situation was to learn the different types of medications and how the medications effected the different parts of the body. Orientation can be unique in some places, the first couple of days on the floor was part of the orientation. The part of the training that was effective was learning all the medications and how the body responds to the medications. There are so many medications that helps with issues, such as asthma but may cause high blood pressure. This way, as a medication aide there is a responsibility to monitor patients for side effects. There are doctors who prescribe the medications but they do not physically give the medication to the patients. Therefore, medication aides need to monitor patients after giving those medications. The training was effective by provide information on side effects and the interaction among different medications. In training, what happens in the first few days is important (Blanchard & Thacker, 2013) The part of the training that was not effective enough was training the medication aides on the proper procedures when passing medications to patients. For instance, there should be a time frame where the patient need to get there medications and a time frame for the next dose of medications. It is against regulations to have one medication aide passing medications to a number of patients where there is supposed to be two medication aides. One medication aide will not be able to provide all medications to all patients on time ethically. It will be too many patients to care for. To make the training more effective, there should have been more classes on ethics. The training do not provide enough ethical information. A medication aide need to know what to do when faced with an unethical situation. Ethics need to just as important as the medications themselves. Ethics can be a reason for a person to lose their jobs by endangering the lives of patients and by not following regulations. Based on statistics, 99% of new employees will meet expectations and succeed (Blanchard & Thacker, 2013). Ethics can immediately become a legal issue and there will be less errors if medication aides are trained knowing so.

But what if it is not done in the proper way? The proper way means here that the way the training has been provided to the new hires. The case which is given here shows that the proper training process should be there in order to avoid the risks. More the practical knowledge is needed to deal with the ethical way of doing the work. It was also done by the orientation program. The risk is high in case of Medical field as it deals with the life of someone.
