Every group is a team.

1. Following are the negative team characteristics that could affect talented individuals:

a. Lack of group cohesiveness: Team cohesiveness results in team acting in a unified manner. It helps in satisfying individual's needs. The team objectives need to be related to individual's needs of the members of the team. If the goal congruency does not take place, organization has to pay a price of this goal conflict.

b. Lack of good leader: The team as compared to group, does not have a clearly focused leader.

c. Miscommunication skills of the team: If the team do not encourage interactions, it will lead to improper communication.

d. Lack of group norms: Group norms have broader influence on the behavior of team members. Every team deveop its own norms that direct the behavior of its members towards accomplishment of its goals. Group norms facilitate team survival. It clarifies role expectations. It also helps in expressing key group values and enhance unique identity. Lack of group norms will adversely affect the smooth functioning of the team as well as behavior of team members.

e. Lack of synergy: Due to negative synergy, teams lose the potential to create higher levels of productivity.

6. Variables that lead to team success are as follows:

Commitment ot team goals: Teams generally develop a common purpose, commitment to that purpose and agreement upon specific goals. Combination of these key points results in a high degree of commitment to common team goals.

Good communication: Proper communication between team members leads to high levels of task accomplishment as a team. Proper communication helps in synchronizing activitiess of the teams to bring unity of action.

Good leader: A leader with a clear thinking and vision will emerge and will effectively control the group of individuals who are operating at a low level of team. A good leader will satisfy their need of safety, security, emotional needs and other related aspects to form a good team.

Trust build: There should be high level of mutual trust aming members. They should beleive in the integrity, character, competence, consistency, loyalty and openness of each other.
