Question

4 Consider the following schemas for a course registration system StudentGNumber, firstName, lastName, streeetAddress, city, state, zipcode) Course(courseld, courseNumber, sectionNumber, year, semester, courseTitle, hours RegisteringForCourse(jNumber, courseld) instructor) a). In the relation(table) Course, do you find another key among the attributes? If you do, list the attributes of the key you found. (7 pts) b). Do you see any table that implements a relationship? If you do, describe how that ranting a relationshin) relates other tables(entities)? (7 pts)

Explanation / Answer

Consider the general notion of the attributes, in first table Students, jNumberb (if it represents roll no of students) is the only unique identiity (if the institute keeps such a numbering) they possess (as it is possible for two people two to have same names). Hence no other key in the key in students table except the roll. We assume by key it is ment to be the minimal key.

Though for the Course table, courseId, courseNumber, courseTitle can all represent a course uniquely. Hence apart from courseId, we have two 2 more keys.

In the RegisteringInCourse table, we require both student's unique id and course's unique identification number together to identify a particular student's registration. Hence, they together are the only unique combination. Hence no other key present here.

Hope this helps! PLEASE THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
