Question

Computer Dynamics Computer Dynamics is a microcomputer software development company that has a 300-computer network. The company is located in three adjacent ve-story buildings in an oce park, with about 100 computers in each building. The LANs in each building are similar, but one building has the data center on the second oor. There are no other oce locations. The current network is poorly designed f or its current needs and must be completely replaced. Develop a logical design for this enterprise campus that considers the seven network architecture components. There are no other campuses, so you can omit WAN access. You will need to make some assumptions, so be sure to document your assumptions and explain why you have designed he network in this way.

Explanation / Answer

different network architectures are

LAN, WAN, WLAN, MAN, SAN, PAN, EPN & VPN

For datacentre we must use SAN (Storage area netwotk)

Inside each building we must use LAN for each floor with combination of START and BUS topology

we can connect each floor using STAR topology

To connect laptops and other devices we can impliment WLAN in each floor

Since the office is located in three adjecent buldings, MAN,WAN is not that preferable

Since it contains 300 computers PAN is also not used

Since this office is located in only one site , EPN ( enterprise private network) not used , As EPN is used to connect offices at different sites

For fecilitating work from home or other features we can add VPN to the office network

SUMMARY:

SAN to data centre

LAN to buildings

WLAN inside bulding/ floor

VPN for remote login

Topology:

BUS & STAR in each floor

STAR from each floor to building center

STAR from each bulding to data center
