Question

Assignment: Analyze this experience in your own words:

To begin to formulate preliminary ideas for executive development at Kareco I would begin by asking the Board of Directors to explain the overall company strategy. Looking 3-5 years in the future what are the top five things Kareco would be focusing on? This is important as we are preparing future leaders and the necessary KSAs will differ depending on the Kareco strategy (Blanchard and Thacker, 2012). For instance, maybe we are looking for acquisition opportunities or international expansion, without knowing it’s difficult to align training to meet these gaps. High level recommendations would include performing a 360-degree performance review on the future leaders and planning development around areas of weakness. Specific suggestions for development that I would recommend over an extended period include job rotation, mentoring and external programs such as a boot camp. By participating in these activities these future leaders will be able to better understand the inner workings of the organization (outside of their current department), will have been mentored by individuals currently in an executive role and been exposed to the toughest business scenarios to ensure tenacity for what the future holds.
